Dr. Robert R. Villegas MSN, FNP-C, DNP has over 25 years of involvement in emergency care services and 10 years of family care practice. Born and raised in Imperial County he attended Imperial Valley College and graduated with three associated degrees in General Science, Life Science, and Registered Nurse. He also completed his Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2008 and his Master of Science in Nursing in Family Nurse Practitioner in 2014. Dr. Villegas has been board-certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners since 2014. He graduated from the University of San Diego with his Doctor of Nursing Practice in 2022 and was involved in researching outpatient treatment strategies and data collecting sentinel surveillance clinic for Coronavirus Disease 19 (COVID-19) in Imperial County.

During his doctoral program, he published the National Early Warning Score (NEWS) for COVID-19 infected Patients: A Clinical Guidance Tool. Dr. Villegas played a critical role in the design and development of skills to integrate research and clinical practice addressing current healthcare issues. He is involved with Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, the California Association for Nurse Practitioners, and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. He has established fundamentals of patient care increasing effectiveness in disease prevention and health promotion in our underserved bicultural community. Outside work, he enjoys spending time with his family, offshore fishing, horseback riding, and coaching wrestling for youth in our community.
